These terms govern your use of the Back in Business Hub, operated by GD Education Limited, 19 Clontarf Park, Dublin 3, D03 W142, company number 756501. By registering for an account you agree to them.

1. Who this platform is for

The Back in Business Hub is for teachers and students in post-primary schools in the Republic of Ireland who are using the Back in Business textbook.

There are two kinds of account:

• Teacher accounts, for a qualified teacher or educator using the textbook with their classes.
• Student accounts, for a student studying from the textbook, either through their school’s classroom or with their own ebook licence.

By registering you confirm that you fall into one of those categories. Registering under false details may result in the account being restricted or removed.

2. Students under 16

Ireland sets the age of digital consent at 16. When you sign up we ask whether you are 16 or older. If you are 16 or over you can use the hub straight away. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must approve your account before it becomes fully active.

Until approval is given, the account can open the ebook but cannot use the rest of the hub, and no study activity is recorded. If approval is not completed within seven days of registration the account is deleted automatically, with a reminder sent after three days.

A parent or guardian can withdraw approval at any time, which deletes the account. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

3. Your account

Your login is personal to you. Sharing login details, or letting somebody else use your account, is not permitted and may result in the account being closed. Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has your password.

You are responsible for keeping your details accurate, including the school you are attached to.

4. Licence to use the materials

We grant you permission to view, and where offered to download, one copy of the materials on this site for your own teaching or study. This is a licence to use them, not a transfer of ownership. You may not:

• modify or copy the materials beyond your own teaching or study;
• use them commercially, or display them publicly for commercial gain;
• attempt to decompile or reverse engineer any software on the site;
• remove any copyright or ownership notice;
• pass the materials to anybody else, or republish them on another server.

Normal classroom use with your own students is expressly permitted, and is what the platform is for.

This licence ends if you break these restrictions, and we may end it at any time. When it ends, destroy any downloaded copies you hold.

5. Ebooks and Yudu

Ebooks are delivered through Yudu, a secure digital publishing platform, either in your browser or through the GD Education app. Access is tied to your account. Yudu processes limited technical information to confirm you are entitled to open a book.

6. What teachers can see

A teacher can see the work they have assigned to their own students, whether it was completed and how it was scored, along with a summary of each student’s overall activity. Teachers cannot send free-text messages to students through the platform.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the platform available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Content may be added, changed or withdrawn, and the materials may contain occasional errors. We do not warrant that everything on the site is accurate, complete or current.

8. Limits on our liability

The materials are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of data or profit, arising from using or being unable to use the platform.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or a person’s own claim under Article 82 of the GDPR.

9. Links to other sites

We have not reviewed every site we link to and we are not responsible for their content. Following a link is at your own risk.

10. Your data

What we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: we do not sell personal data, we never send marketing to students, and there is no third-party advertising anywhere a student can reach.

Where a school uses the hub with its classes, the school is the data controller for the classroom side and we act as its data processor under a written Data Processing Agreement.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. If we make a significant change we will say so.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
